Characterization of internal interfaces in hierarchically structured biomaterials

The main goal is measuring the mechanical and compositional gradation across internal interfaces between a single building block and the surrounding gluing medium in hierarchical structures found in nature. Thus, obtaining a generalized mechanical model that will reflect the role of internal interfaces in the “structure to function” relationship in biomaterials and developing design principles for bio-inspired composite material synthesis.
